It was quite the journey getting into wine. I was born in Windsor, England and moved to the United States when I was 11 years old. Growing up, there was always a bottle of wine on the table during dinner, next to the salt and jug of water. After I graduated High School, I went to University in Switzerland at Les Roches School of Hotel Management and that experience really shaped my life.

During my first year of University, we had a Bar and Beverage class (it was always the last class of the day for obvious reasons) which was my first proper introduction into wine and spirits. We learned how wine was made and why it tastes differently depending on where it is grown. I found the winemaking process fascinating and I was hooked.

After graduating University, I was very fortunate to work in over 10 hotels in 5 different countries. I divided most of my time between the Front Office and Food and Beverage departments. During my stint as Bar & Beverage Assistant Manager at Four Seasons, I was able to complete my WSET level 1.

This cemented my desire to specifically work in the wine and spirits industry and from there I accepted the position as Head Sommelier at Foxhills. While working as a Sommelier, I furthered my knowledge by completing WSET level 2, and learned how to manage a wine list while keeping the underground manor house cellar organised. I moved to Canada 5 years ago and I have been working on the retail side of wine and spirits for the past 4 years, during which I completed WSET level 3.

My current role at Cascadia in Quadra Village, as the Wine & Spirits Specialist, involves curating rare wines and spirits for The Cellar as well as hosting Premium Tastings and Master Classes on a weekly basis. I am thrilled to join the Cascadia team and I hope you will join me on this exciting journey.
